Now that it’s officially summer, the weather should be getting warmer. This means that it’s even more important to ensure that your garden is properly cared for in the heat, so your plants don’t wither in the heat.

Regularly maintaining your garden adds value to your home as well as encourages you to spend more time enjoying your outdoor living space.

Maintaining your Lawn

Mowing your lawn regularly means that it won’t overgrow and cause issues. It’s also a good idea to use weed and feed treatments as well as water it regularly. Alternatively, you could look at getting artificial grass which has a lot less maintenance involved.

Watering your Plants

In the warm weather, it’s best to water your plants in the evening, or early in the morning, otherwise most of the water will evaporate before it even reaches the plant roots.

It’s best to do this with a moderate amount of water every two or three days instead of a small amount of water every day, just make sure the soil isn’t too damp already otherwise you’ll risk drowning your plants.

Carry out Trimming

Trimming hedges will stop any dead or dying branches from harming any nearby plants. It’s a great way to encourage growth and to ensure that the hedge is healthy as this promotes root growth.

Taking care of Plants

Pruning your plants ensures that they are in their best condition and not left to overgrow. This is where you cut parts of the plant to either keep it a certain size or to allow it to grow in a certain shape. Removing dead parts of the plant or diseased parts will encourage healthy growth.

Regular Weeding

It’s important to make sure that you’re regularly taking care of the weeds in your garden as over time these can become a nuisance if left untreated. We recommend weeding your garden at least every 2 weeks.
